Job Description

We are looking to hire an enthusiastic and hardworking Asphalt Laborer to assist in the pouring, smoothing and setting of asphalt for roads and parking lots, sweeping and raking , directing traffic, and cleaning the area and machines at the end of the day.

To ensure success as an Asphalt Laborer, you should be physically fit and be able to work long hours in all weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Assisting the screed operator.
• Shoveling material out to the end gate.
• Shovel asphalt mix into areas inaccessible to paving machines, and compact mix using rakes and hand tampers.
• Performing a variety of manual labour tasks, including use of power and hand tools. Complete a variety of other general labour tasks, such as clean and prepare sites.
• Offloading the truck and gathering tools for the day.
• Maintaining cleanliness and packing equipment away at the end of the day.

Essential Job Requirements

You will have related experience in roads maintenance and construction and good knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and equipment used in roads work. You must have demonstrated ability to perform heavy physical labouring / manual work. A valid Drivers License is required. You must also be able to deal effectively with the public and embrace values such as teamwork, respect, a positive attitude, professionalism and integrity.

• Proven work experience as an Asphalt Laborer.
• Knowledge of road and traffic regulations.
• Ability to work as part of a team.
• Ability to travel to wherever the job is needed.
• Ability to work for long hours in all weather conditions.
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
• Excellent communication and observation skills.
