Lower Lock 2
Due to poor condition of the aging existing timber tie-up walls and the recent collapse of a section near Lock 2 in January 2010 the SLSMC hired Rankin Construction to assist in the design and carry out reconstruction of 2 sections of the existing wall. An emergency reconstruction of a 55m collapsed section was carried out in February and March of 2010 followed by the reconstruction of an 84m section during the winter of 2010/2011. The existing timber structure was replaced with steel H piles, structural steel, and reinforced concrete.
