Rankin Construction was contracted by the City of St. Catharines to construct a Pedestrian Bridge to connect Rennie Park in Port Dalhousie to Jaycee Park along the Henley Rowing Course. The total length of the bridge is just over 275 meters long and is 3 meters wide. We had to install 8 piers in the water using marine equipment with four battered pipe piles in each pier and then a concrete pier cap was formed and poured over the piles. This work commenced in early January and was completed in severe winter conditions. In order to continue working it was necessary to break up the ice using our tug boat on a daily basis during the early stages of the project.
