As part of the 2023 Asphalt Projects tender released by the District School Board of Niagara (DSBN), Rankin Construction was awarded the project for the reconstruction of the Gordon Public School parking lot in Welland, ON.
The project involved the complete reconstruction of a site, beginning with the removal of existing asphalt and the installation of catch basins, storm sewers, and a stormwater management system in the parking lot. Subdrain drainage trenches were added in the playground area to improve water flow. The team then placed and graded stone in the parking lot, poured new curbs and sidewalks, and excavated, stoned, and graded a new walking path. Final touches included landscaping, adjusting catch basins to finished grade, paving the parking lot and path, and painting line markings to complete the project.
All work was carefully scheduled and executed during the summer closure months, ensuring the entire project was completed ahead of schedule and ready for use before the school reopened in September.
