In the winter of 2023, Parks Canada contracted Rankin to complete the revitalization and construction of an armourstone revetment at Fort Mississauga National Historic Site, in Niagara on the Lake, ON. The project was located within the historic Niagara-on-the-Lake Golf Club, with a restrictive construction timeline, ensuring golf course activities were not negatively impacted by construction operations.
In order to facilitate the scope of work for this project, the following construction activities were completed: creation of access routes, strategically located throughout the Niagara on the Lake Golf Club; re-grading of the existing slope, creating a gradual revetment surface; installation of rip rap and granular bedding material; installation of large toe-stones, and armourstone revetment materials; regrading of the existing top of slope, and creation of a new walking path; and restoration of all site and landscaping areas.
The project was completed on schedule allowing for the seasonal opening of the golf course, without operational interruptions.
