Rankin Coastal Engineering Inc., is a subsidiary company to Rankin Construction, specializing in shoreline protection and coast engineering services. Rankin Coastal is comprised of a team of licensed professionals offering comprehensive project support from initial concept, through to engineered design and permit acquisition.
Shoreline protection has become increasingly important over the last decade due to rising water levels, increased erosion, and climate change impacts. In 2020, Rankin Construction received several calls from property owners interested in investing in solutions to stabilize shorelines, protect existing structures, and preserve natural ecosystems; resulting in the development of Rankin Coastal Engineering Inc.

The company currently offers the following types of shoreline protection systems:
Seawalls: Vertical or near-vertical structures made of concrete, steel, or stackable stone that deflect wave energy and prevent erosion.
Armourstone Revetments: Large stones or concrete blocks placed along shorelines to absorb wave impact and reduce erosion.
Groynes: Perpendicular structures extending into the water that trap sediment and reduce erosion by disrupting wave currents.
